After a couple of hours we arrived in la Fortuna. On the way there we stopped at the supermarket to get some groceries. The holiday house was so cool and had a private pool for just us!!!!!(I was very happy about the pool) me and lottie were sharing a room and a bed and so were my mum and dad. The kitchen had loads of equipment so we knew we would have no trouble cooking 🧑‍🍳. We unpacked a bit and got into the pool. There was a little waterfall and water guns! I loved doing flips in the water, it’s my favourite thing to do in the pool! I also enjoyed water fighting my sister. After the pool, we dried off and had some dinner. For dinner we had fajitas which were really good. After dinner we started a new series of “race across the world” and went to bed.

The next day we woke up and had breakfast. We got in our car and drove to a volcano! We weren’t going to climb up it because you weren’t able to because it was not fully dead yet! We were doing a little hike around it. We were walking along quite a stony and rocky path. We didn’t see as much wildlife today but this is what we did see:

  • A giant tree 🌳
  • I spotted two black snakes 🐍
  • Wasps 🦟
  • A giant volcano 🌋
  • Volcano rock 🪨

The environment was in between hot and damp but it was super cool. The volcano 🌋 was so big and looked super cool. We couldn’t really stop walking though because there was ants 🐜 and wasps 🦟 everywhere! At the end we went to the last bit of the walk and saw the volcano very close up. Apparently, today we were really lucky because most days you couldn’t see the top 🔝 of the volcano because of the clouds but today we saw the whole volcano very clearly! The thing I really liked is looking at the volcano from different angles. After that we drove back to our apartment. For lunch, dad made tuna mayo sandwiches which were really good. In the afternoon we drove back into town and got some things to make dinner with. When we got back we went in the pool 🏊‍♀️! I just loved getting in the water again. I did some swimming, some flipping and some mucking about! After the pool, we came in and had dinner. For dinner we had steak 🥩 which was delicious. For pudding we had a giant biscuit. Later, we got into our pyjamas and watched some T.V., brushed our teeth and went to bed.

The next day we went to some  hanging bridges in another rainforest. It was a trail and there was hanging bridges which were super rocky, if there was more that seven people at a time it was quite a challenge to get across without dropping your phone! The walk was really cool and going across the bridges you were walking on top of the trees! It was super cool and today it wasn’t very damp at all. Today we saw:

  • Monkeys
  • I spotted a green snake that was really camouflaged
  • Giant moth
  • Ants
  • A waterfall
  • Lots of cool trees
  • Broad-billed motmot (a colourful bird)
  • Spiders
  • Green parrots
  • Butterflies
  • Heard loads of noises

I really liked it today and I fell over once on one of the bridges! I also saw lots of beautiful flowers 💐. I was very happy to see the snake because it was very camouflaged! The bridges were really fun!

A bit later we got a quick photo next to a really cool sign and drove home. For lunch we just had sandwiches and crisps again. After lunch we drove to some thermal hot springs!

These hot springs were so cool. There was so many different pools and the hottest pool was 50 degrees!!! I wasn’t allowed in it because it would burn me! The cool thing was that all the pools had different features like waterfall and a place where you could hide from the rain! My favourite pool was one that had two really quick slides 🛝 that me and lottie raced on! They were so quick and you made quite a splash 💦 when you got to the bottom! Just as we got there it started to rain! I liked the rain, in fact it was quite massaging when you were in the pools! When I dipped my foot in the 50 degrees pool I pulled it right out because it was so hot 🥵! By the way, fun fact, lava is twenty times as hot as that pool so if you touched lava it would burn right through you! When we got out it was quite a struggle to get back into our clothes because it was still raining heavily. And now it was a tropical storm because the lightning was less than a mile away😬. We were all okay ✅but on the way home stopped for hot chocolate which was nice. At home we did some home schooling and then had pasta🍝for dinner. After that we watch television and went to bed.

The next day we drove to a chocolate plantation. Today we were doing a chocolate tour! They showed us the cacao beans and some were purple and some were green. We got to try the beans which tasted surprisingly like lichees! It was really good. We got to crush the beans 🫘and we made them into a drink which was a bit spicy 🌶️ for me. We also made chocolates! We made it out of melted dark chocolate 🍫 and we put flavours in the dark chocolate. First we tried the melted chocolate with some of the flavours and then we made them. We got to make four each! I did two cinnamon, one peanut and one peanut and cinnamon. Once they had been turned solid we got to try one. I tried a cinnamon one and it was really good. The rest we put into paper bags and took them home. I really enjoyed the chocolate tour. After the tour we went to a little gift shop for chocolate! Lottie got a big bar of white chocolate and I got some Nutella chocolate which was delicious after that we drove home.

We had pasta for lunch which was nice. After that we did some school work and blogging. Then we went to the pool for the last time😭. It chucked it down whilst we were in the pool and I quite enjoyed the rain 🌧️. We did a big family water fight and I got my mum in the face so many times😂. Me and lottie also did front flips into the pool which I hadn’t done for a while!!! Later on we went out for dinner at a nearby restaurant. For my drink I had watermelon lemonade, for main I had a gigantic wrap that had so many things in it I could only just bite it! For dessert I had churros with ice cream which was so good. After dinner we watched an hour of television and went to bed.

That’s it for La Fortuna I’m afraid, I’ll post about the next place soon, bye!

  1. Hi Hatty, According to your dad you’re now the official 🐍 spotter. I am so pleased that you’re keeping up the food part of your blog I love hearing about it. I absolutely adore your skiing girl top, very cool. Well your off to San Francisco now ,safe journey and if you get lonely for really enormous 🌲’s then less than an hours drive from the city is a reserve called Muir Woods which has some of the tallest trees in the world!. Enjoy yourselves, lots of love. Gaga
