It has been a long tiring adventure to arrive at santiago! We went on the most windy road in the world! It was like a swiggly line down a mountain! When we finally arrived in Santiago, Chile we went to our hotel.
It was really nice and the people who worked at the hotel opened the door for you every time you went in or out! When we had sorted everything out in our room we had a look round the hotel and went to the pool. The thing I really liked about the pool is that there was a powerful jet at one end that you could practise swimming against! The only bad thing about the pool was that you had to wear a swim hat in the pool and we didn’t have swimming caps so we had to borrow these really weird ones from the hotel.
When we were done in the pool we decided we were going to have an early night so had dinner at the hotel I had a giant burger that was lovely. We headed back up to the room and watched our favourite show “race across the world”. It is a show where teams of two compete to get from one side of the world to the other without flying and they have a limited budget. First team to finnish wins. When we had watched and hour of it we went to bed.
Then next day we had a nice buffet breakfast and headed of for the day. That day we went to two museums, a natural history musem and a train museum.
The natural history museum was super cool even if it was in Spanish we managed to understand it. My favourite part was the 🕷️ expedition! You won’t believe how big the spiders were. You even got a little origami frog at the end!
Then we walked to the train museum! We got to go inside the trains and even under some of them! Under the trains were so many bits and bots under the trains. I had a lot of fun!
After that, we made our way to lunch. I had a cheese and ham croissant 🥐 that was delicious! We didn’t have anything to do that evening so we just went to the pool, had dinner and went to bed.
The next day we went to see changing of the guards. There were bands and horses 🐎 and there were even some clarinets! The band played a popular 80s tune called “take on me” and it was played wonderfully!
After the changing of guards we wen on funicular up a mountain and had traditional piña empanadas that were delish! We did a little walk round the top and found a 22 metre Mary! When we were finished taking pics we got a cable car down that we got great views from!
Later that night at half past seven we did a empanada cooking class! It was in a lady called Valentina’s apartment and we did her traditional family recipe. We had a lot of fun making them and I did one with a grumpy face! They were delicious if a little bit spicy. We also had this nice salad that we will be making at home.
The next day we visited the tallest building in South America which is called Sky Constanera. We went to a little shopping centre in the middle of it and I got a cool new jumper. We also got a smoothie that was amazingly good.
