A break from the hustle and bustle of the city. A small town on the outskirts of David. Sadly, it was raining as we made a mad dash for the room it had a set of bunk beds and a queen double for mum and dad. I was on the top bunk. That evening we went to a family run local restaurant. They had chess set out and we played three games. We also got a mini karate lesson from their daughter who has won tournaments for the whole of South America for her age. I had beef and pork with potatoes.

The first adventure was visiting the three lost waterfalls me, and Hatty were free but mum and dad were 10 dollars each which I personally think is very expensive. We were walking through a jungle, and we even saw a crab which is very unusual. There was lots of insects and vines hanging down from the trees. We didn’t go to the first or the second waterfall we headed straight to the third waterfall but to get to it was very interesting. Going any further than the first waterfall you basically have to go rock climbing because of the path, and it was really fun. When I say rock climbing I really mean it. We got lots of good pictures and headed to the second waterfall where we planned to paddle and clean our sandals and legs. The water was absolutely freezing, and we spent as little time in it as possible. It was smaller than the third one but unlike earlier there was no one there as they had all gone to the third waterfall.  It sounded like thunder and the river sounded like bubbles gurgling it was very calm and peaceful. Coming back down the rock-climbing section was like abseiling because there were ropes you could use that we didn’t use on the way up. We didn’t really go to the first waterfall because it was so far away and the smallest of them all plus, we had a taxi at twelve that we couldn’t miss.

We got back in time and headed into the middle of the town for lunch. We all had wraps and mine had ham, salami, pepperoni and loads of turkey. We all got chips, but I didn’t eat them because they weren’t very nice. The wraps were fully stuffed though. After that we walked back to the room and chilled and went in the jacuzzi. For dinner we went to a traditional Panamanian restaurant. I had something dad makes for us a lot at home. Fried rice with chicken and veg all mixed up.

The next day was less exciting because we went to a coffee plantation and there was a lot of talking and also, I don’t like coffee and the two don’t really bode well. But when we got to grind the beans and roast them that was fun, and we got to take the coffee beans home. Mum, dad and Hatty also tried some coffee, but I only tried the one that looked like you were doing a chemistry exam because it looked fun. It was still disgusting. They had two different types of coffee geisha (the most expensive in the world) and arabica.

For lunch we went to a local bakery and had baguette with peanut butter whilst eating Pringles and watching the final of race across the World Series one. We had one last dip in the hot tub watched some more tv and went for my favourite dinner so far. We went to the Rock. I had chicken and chips and they had swings and a slide and a massive campfire. For pudding we had massive chocolate chip cookies the size of my face and I’m not joking, with ice-cream and chocolate sauce. Whenever you get the bill, you always get a mint not here. You got a giant marshmallow to toast over the campfire which I loved as I don’t like mints and marshmallows are way better anyway.

The next morning, we started our journey to Costa Rica. More when we get there.

  1. Hi Lottie, the jungle sounds really interesting. You all must be so fit now all that 🧗‍♂️ and trekking. I’m glad you enjoyed the waterfalls, not so much the coffee plantation, by the way remind me when you get back not to talk to you about coffee as you’ll probably fall asleep 😴. The open fire looks great and we all know how much you and your sister love toasted marshmallows. I really enjoy reading you and your sisters blogs, keep up the good work. Love Gaga
