After the Galapagos we flied over to Panama! We arrived in Panama and went to our apartment which was really nice. Me and my sister shared a double bed and so did my mum and dad. Our apartment contained a kitchen, living room, two bedrooms, two bathrooms and three tv’s!

In the morning we went for a little walk to a playground which was fun. After the playground we continued walking for forty-five minutes and arrived in the old town. We had a wonder round the old town and found a nice place to have lunch. I had pasta bolognaise which was very tasty and I was quite full afterwards! After lunch we went to a museum all about the Panama Canal. It was very interesting and I found out a lot about the Panama Canal. Here are some facts about the canal:

  • Panama is famous for its canal.
  • The Panama Canal is used for shipping goods to people all over the world. It saves going all the way round to the bottom of South America and also saves money and time.
  • The Panama Canal joins the pacific and Atlantic Ocean.
  • The Panama Canal was tried to be built by many countries but in the end the North Americans built it.
  • The Americans owned the canal for a hundred years before it was given back to Panama in 1999 for them to own
  • 45,873 people helped and contributed to build the canal.
  • It took twenty five years to build the canal and was finally ready by 1914.

After the museum we were all to tired to walk home so we just got an Uber back to our apartment. Back at the apartment we went in the pool on the roof! It was quite nice and I did nine forward rolls in a row without breathing! After the pool we had dinner at our apartment and we had pasta pesto with broccoli which was quite tasty. Next we watched a new series of race across the world and went to bed.

The next day we had a relaxed breakfast of cereal, toast, yogurt and eggs. After we had brushed our teeth and had a shower and all of that stuff, we got into our swimwear and headed down to the pool again. Me and my sister had a bomb 💣 contest! I obviously 🙄 won. After a long while in the pool, we went back to our room for lunch. We had egg on toast with mushrooms.

In the afternoon we drove to a nature reserve! There were lots of different sections. The first sections was a room with loads of different frogs. My favourite frog was a black and blue frog. There was a lot of different size frogs, some you couldn’t spot without help! The next section was a hands on section where there was lots of different bones of different animals that you could feel and touch. There was also preserved bugs and beaks from different birds. My favourite thing in the section was a microscope where you could look at different rocks and shells and bugs and more things like that. The next place was the sloths 🦥 and they were so cute clinging on to the branches. Then there was an aquarium where we saw star-fish and we also saw this fish that eats every fish in the water which is why it has it’s own tank.

When we were done in the nature reserve we got a taxi to The Panama canal. We got tickets and wen to an area where we were going to watch a boat past through! We got great seats to watch the boat. After we watched the boat pass through we bought popcorn and nachos. Then we got 3.D. Glasses and went into a cinema. It was going to be 3-D movie about the Panama Canal. It was really good, and the effects were amazing. After the movie back to the apartment had dinner and went to bed.

The next day we went on a visit to meet a tribe! We got a mini bus with a couple other people. We drove untill we got to a boat stop off point. We got on a little canoe and sailed for about an hour to make it to a little Jungle. We got off the canoe and went on a walk through the jungle. The environment was amazing and all the sounds of the jungle really get you listening. We went through vines and through a couple bits of water and all you could hear or see was sights, sounds and smells of the jungle. It was amazing! After about half an hour we arrived at a little waterfall river bit. It was an incredible sight, gushing water, in a jungle, the sun beating down, the air felt so pure! We all got changed into our swim gear and we went into the little river. The water felt amazing on your body. And when you went under the waterfall it was very soothing. We didn’t have our phones with us, but we got someone else to take a picture of us and send it to us. It was amazing that waterfall. When we were done in the water we got out and got changed. We slowly made our way back to the boat and I started chatting to this nice lady called Silvy. We got back on the boat and went to another place along the river.

We arrived at the place where the tribe lived. We got off the boat and they greeted us with some traditional music which was lovely. We went in this little house/hut and they served us lunch. We had plantain and fish and it was served in banana leaves with flowers which was so pretty. They showed us some pottery and some other house holds that they had made. There houses were very different to ours. There houses were one floor house made out of wood and straw like treehouses. They had no WiFi, no electronics, no electricity. It was a very different environment to us but I kind of liked it. After that we had fresh fruit and there pineapple was amazingly good.

The tribe also showed us some traditional dancing. One dance called The hummingbird and another one called Mother Earth.

My dad even got to try some dancing and me, my sister and my mum got flower garlands! It was really cool but it was chucking it down so we had to wait for it to stop raining before we went to the stalls that each family had prepared. The clothing was a skirt cloth thing for the men and a colourful crop top and skirt. They outfits were very pretty and all the little kids were so cute. In the stalls I bought this beautiful, colourful bracelet that I love. Afterwards it was time to say goodbye 👋 to the tribe. It had been an amazing experience that might not happen again. I am really thankful for the tribe letting us see there homes and I really hope we’ll see them again some time.

We got back on the canoe sailed back, got the mini-bus back to our apartment, had dinner and went straight to bed.

That’s the end of our time in Panama City! See ya!
