After our week in the jungle, we took a flight to senegigi, Lombok. AKA: pool every day for a week. Once we got settled in, we went straight for some lunch as we were all starving. When our stomachs had decided that they were full we got changed and went to the pool for the rest of the evening.

For the next few days, we spent our lives chilling in the pool and only really walking when getting to and from the room and to get food. Unfortunately, I was unwell for a bit, but it was fine, and I was all better within 48 hours. We were all very lazy and one evening we just ordered room service and watched a movie.

After a bit of a lazy few days, we got in a car and went to a hotel in Senaru about two hours’ drive for one night before attempting the hardest challenge of my life. The next day we woke up early left most of our stuff with the hotel then got a car to the bottom of mount Rinjani. I say it was a mountain it was actually a volcano, and it was a steep eight hour walk to the top including lots of breaks. It was very physically challenging for our legs and feet constantly going up. We consumed a lot of sugar whilst going up to keep us going and found our new favourite Indonesian food. Beng beng bars. They are layers of thin wafer with caramel covered in chocolate. We frequently had to step in to let passing porters go by carrying all the stuff. Oh, I forgot to mention we are camping at the top and having lunch in between trekking. The terrain was very difficult and unusual at times as a result of this some of us slipped onto our back sides, but it was fine.

Once we finally made it to the top, I screamed so loud I am sure the people in Bali (another part of Indonesia) could hear me. I was so pleased once they had set up the tents I asked where the toilet was and what the skinny tall rectangle tent was that had a hole in it. Turns out both my questions were answered at once because that was the toilet and you had to squat. The sunrise and sunset were epic, and we were higher than the clouds. Thankfully during our time up the mountain none of us needed a poo, which was a surprise, we were all waiting for someone to say they needed a poo and start telling them good luck but sadly that feeling never came. On the way down it was a bit tricker since the first bit had got really dry and slippy during the night, so we all ended bum sliding at some point down the sand. It was still as tiring though but this time it was your knees that were killing you.

Once safely at the bottom, we got in the car back to Senegigi for a few more nights before going to another part of Lombok called kuta.

  1. Hi Lottie, what an awesome thing to do, climbing a volcano ๐ŸŒ‹. You must have been very tired, I know I was absolutely exhausted reading about it ๐Ÿ˜“ very well done all of you! I was speaking with your dad and he said you are going snorkelling ๐Ÿคฟ and scuba diving in the next few days that will be enormous fun swimming with the ๐Ÿ ๐ŸŸ๐Ÿฌ๐Ÿณ well you might see most of the fishes but probably not a whale ๐Ÿ˜„. Loved your stripped bikini you will really blend in with the fishes. You might even see a dolphin! Bye for now love Gaga โค๏ธ

    • Love you too. The volcano was exhausting but the views were great. The bikini might not be coming home though as the elasticity is wearing away. Going to the beach and doing surfing in a few days. Snorkelling in the sea but the scuba diving might just be in the pool as Hatty isnโ€™t allowed in the see and I donโ€™t think I want to go in the sea. Bye for now love Lottie xxx๐Ÿฅฐ
